Talent84 is delighted to be representing our client, a highly successful, market-leading speciality food manufacturer based in Gateshead in their search for a Maintenance Team Leader working on the following shift pattern:
- 3-day shifts > 1 day off > 3-night shifts > 3 days off > 4 days shifts > 7 days off
About the Role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Team Leader will have direct responsibility for x2 Maintenance Engineers and ensuring that the engineering function is providing a high service level in respect to reactive and preventative maintenance.
Main Responsibilities
- Ensure equipment is set up ready for shift start, Product Change, performs at required output
- Correct down of production lines and associated equipment
- KPI’s to be reviewed every shift to maintain focus on delivery and cost.
- Consistent reporting of all maintenance activities including breakdown repair/ reactive maintenance
- Carry out RCAs for repetitive breakdowns or large losses to OEE
- Target the completion of 100% of PM’s, using forward thinking to get maintenance done whenever possible.
- Assist and contribute in initiatives and proactive working to reduce site waste
- Contribute to providing an engineering function that can deliver 85% OEE on site.
- Review and allocate workload for Multi Skilled Engineer’s on shift.
- Ensure that a thorough technical handover is given between previous and following shift.
- Daily downtime sheets/ filling in shift or downtime book/ Maintenance records
About you
To be considered for the role it is essential that you are a time-served multi-skilled maintenance professional with experience gained in a fast-paced, high volume manufacturing (ideally food & drink) with supervisory/team leadership experience.

- Previous experience/exposure to leadership of a team

- Apprenticeship / Technical background Electrical/Mechanical – level 3 NVQ or equivalent
- Experience of PLC, HMI Scada controlled systems
