Talent84 is delighted to be representing our client; a specialist engineering business arm of a larger regional group, in their search for a Supply Chain Coordinator based in South Tyneside.
About the Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, the Supply Chain Coordinator will be responsible for the administration and coordination of spares & parts ordering and playing active role in tendering.
Main Responsibilities
- Establishing lines of communication directly with customers or via commercial advisors as appropriate to clarify requirements.
- Calculation of estimated works cost based upon price list / estimate / previous cost performance or comparative estimation.
- Applying established rules for the pricing associated with spares tenders.
- Liaising with Sales Team colleagues in order to determine the price to be quoted on those occasions where the established rules cannot be applied.
- Seeking the appropriate approval to quote when the quotation value exceeds the limits of authority.
- Creation of sales quotations within the ERP system.
- Maintaining the integrity of the information within the ERP system.
- Initially reviewing terms & conditions of contract where these are dictated by the customer with the assistance of other members of the Bid & Sales Teams as required.
- Conversion of sales quotations to customer orders within the ERP system, performing contract reviews, allocating contract requirements and acknowledging customer orders.
- Monitoring customer orders during the life of the contract and liaising with the customer on any contract amendments / costs / implications and appraising of progress as required by the contract.
- Compliance with departmental / company procedures whilst tendering and processing orders.
- Other duties which the incumbent is competent to perform at the request of the Commercial Manager.
About you
To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience gained in a supply chain based role that includes the use of ERP systems, with direct experience of parts & spares ordering for an engineering environment. Candidates who possess a technical background i.e. time-served in an engineering discipline would be preferred.
Key selection criteria
- A recognised engineering qualification (time-served/HNC+ – Preferred, not essential)
- Experience gained working in a supply chain/production planning position in an engineering environment
- An appreciation of commercial terms and conditions of business.
- Knowledge of export licence control.
- Must have good written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to read and interpret mechanical engineering drawings.
- Have a flexible attitude with the willingness to take on new tasks
- High standard of numeracy, accuracy and attention to detail
- Ability to work on own initiative as well as being a good team player.
- A working knowledge of Microsoft Office and ability to operate the ERP system is required.
