Reporting to the Mechanical Engineering Lead, you will play an integral role in the development of new products and supporting the manufacturing of existing products, through innovative design and prototyping of mechanical components and assemblies.  as well as conduct feasibility analysis, validation analysis and empirical testing on new and modified designs and materials.


Main Responsibilities

  • Designs solutions for mechanical hardware, electronics enclosures, and production tooling based on established engineering principles and in accordance with provided specifications and requirements
  • Perform CAD simulation as well as physical tests to ensure the design meets specification/s.
  • Feasibility analysis
  • Validation analysis
  • Empirical testing on new and modified designs and materials.
  • Maintain records and develop documentation on all designs
  • Work within a small design team to complete assigned objectives.
  • Support designs from prototypes, development, and customer returns.
  • Participate in mechanical, Printed Circuit Board layout and project reviews.
  • Assist other departments in the resolution of design related problems that arise during production.
  • All other duties as assigned.

About you

To be considered for the role, it is essential that you possess demonstrable experience gained as a Mechanical/Mechanical Design Engineer working within a fabrication setting, ideally designing effective, robust technical solutions for electronics/electrical enclosures and accompanying production tooling.


Key selection criteria includes:

  • Experience gained designing enclosures for electronics (preferred)
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relative technical discipline
  • Experience with 3D (Solidworks) CAD tools and ideally simulation/analysis tools (e.g. Cosmos)
  • Good analytical and problem solving skills
  • Good understanding of fabrication processes (injection molding, die-casting, sheet metal and machined parts)
  • Knowledge of tolerance, stress and thermal analysis
  • Knowledge in the use of GD&T
  • Knowledge of common machine shop tools and equipment
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • MS Office literate and basic database skills
